Artist - Banks Peninsula  - New Zealand

The process of drawing is fundamental to Dalzell's practice. Works are often focused and sharpened to reflect an interpretation of our surrounds. The landscape around us and human impacts are key in her art making. Historical events play a role in shaping series and stories within works. A human connection with the land and our experience of events or places become celebrated or commemorated in her practice. Human rights, social and political issues inform themes often working with the figure.  With a variety of artistic approaches and scale Dalzell’s work ranges from finely tuned often mono-chromatic etchings and mezzotints to large scale dramatic drawings. Her work with paper and metal plate is subtile and sculptural, exploring jewellery and artefact. Work on this site is a showcase.
